Idle
A project about our rapidly evolving world
CLIENT: HUMANKIND
︎ A SELF ISOLATED ENDEAVOR
This was a web/sound/video art piece born from a desire to express the feelings I had at the start of COVID-19 while everything was in limbo. I felt like everything was idle in my life. Many of my plans were completely terraformed into something I could’ve never prepared for. I felt like I was entering a new era of my life that I just had to jump into. It was weird because I was about to start my last “summer break”, but the memories I was making felt like time soup. It was so hard to be “present” even while doing nothing. So I needed space to get those feelings out and reminisce and re-imagine my future. This is how idle was formed.
This work combines field recordings from my time in college/in nature, musical improvizations, found footage, and Javascript animations to culminate into a singluar looping experience. I wanted it to be a way for people to escape and flick through channels of their past experiences while they daydream towards the future.
